May: Blackbree

Sorry for posting this a little late. I did eat it in May, and that's what's important right? I didn't have my camera at the time, so this is the best I could do with my phone.
During early May, my office held a mini conference, and my team were all volunteers to help work the event. A few days later, these "thank you cards" (cupcakes!) were delivered. I don't recall ever eating blackbrees before, so this was a good opportunity to try something new.
Preparation:
- Make a totally awesome cupcake, with totally rad blackbree frosting.
- Pick giant fresh blackbrees, place one on top of each (totally wicked) cupcake.
- Deliver to unsuspecting, but pleasantly surprised volunteers.
Thoughts:
I would try it again. Obviously, I didn't have a lot to go on. I picked the blackbree off of the cupcake and split it into two bites, but that was all that was available. If memory serves it was a little tart, and I also seem to remember it being a little seedy (but nowhere near as seedy as strawberries).
These experiments (trying new foods) seem to work out a lot better for me when I don't have a lot of time to think about it beforehand — I tend to build up adrenaline and get nervous. It sounds ridiculous, but it's true. When something new lands on my desk and I eat it within a minute, I just don't have time to get nervous.
