Happy Birthday Mom!

I hope she doesn't mind my saying so, but 46 years ago today Kathryn C. (aka Mom, Mommie, Mama!, and MOM HE'S "NOT TOUCHING" ME!) made her first appearance. As I recall, it was a balmy winter day, with snow drifts up to three feet tall in some areas. She was born at Port Charles General (Port Charles, NY, of course), where legend has it, the pilot episode of General Hospital: Night Shift was shot. You still eat roughly the same amount of food, and not surprisingly, you are built like a bird: thin and muscular. (And I would wager: Feathery bangs during the 80's.) You have been known to scream embarrassingly loud at your children's little league baseball games, violin recitals, graduations, and sometimes, when the conditions are right, when they catch a fish. Not embarrassing for us – your children – mind you, but for the other parents who simply couldn't compete with your enthusiasm for our effort. (Nobody has ever been more excited about 6 foul tips in a row followed by a pop-out to 3rd.) We all know exactly what you're talking about, because we've heard the same story a couple of times – but nobody can accuse you of having surgery without even telling your own offspring (looking lovingly at you, MomR! ;). We are who we are in large part due to you, and so on your birthday I have this to say to you: You only have yourself to blame. Oh, and we love you.

  1. Happy Birthday Kitty! --I can't believe my brother-in-law's Mom is only 46 (not that you LOOK older...) It's just that I have a brother who is less than 7 years younger than you... and actually, my Mom could be YOUR Mom. :-P May you have at least 46 more birthdays!

  2. 1) Thanks :) You're a very creative writer
    2) No, I dont mind you telling my age. I think I'm getting better with age, much like fine wine, so Yay me!
    3) You DO know I was born in Port Deposit, MD, right? (Actually, Bainbridge... you KNOW the story... the navy base that closed and now the town no longer exists. . . . ;~)

  3. Well, Port Charles, NY doesn't actually exist. It's the fictitious town that General Hospital was set in. I figured you would know that. And yes. I've heard that story a few times. ;o)
