Here's an outfit that doesn't get worn too much these days. My old BSA uniform. I made Eagle Scout just before my 18th birthday, and — just like they say — it's great resume fodder.

I was inspired for this shot because my dad found my old merit badge sash recently and gave it to me at our pre-Thanksgiving dinner. Bonus points if you can name (and point out) a few of the merit badges without peeking at the notes. There are only a few I had to look up, surprisingly. View large for a better look at the individual badges.

What an incredible dork Megan married.

  1. Definaly not a dork. A geek perhaps, but not a dork. I'm proud that you stuck to it. I was happy to assist in your Eagle project and I know the hospital was happy with the 3 large toy chest you donated. It was your first big project - and you managed it from start to end.

I've been going through my pictures and have a stack covering your construction efforts. If you don't already have copies I can scan and deliver.

  2. Wow, I just looked at your larger photo. Noting all the merit badges must have taken a lot of effort. You geek!

  4. It's one of the ones that all first-year summer campers take. It's like a rite of passage. Like an "Easy A" in school. ;)

  5. Another badge, that didnt go on the front, that you worked quite hard for, was the mile swim :) I am pretty sure there were others too, but can't think of them off the top of my head.

  6. Indeed, that one was a lot of work. I remember sewing it to my swim trunks; though I don't know what ever happened to those trunks.

  7. Unless there's a different one, the swimming merit badge is on your sash, 1st position on 2nd row.

  8. Mile swim is totally different from swimming merit badge :) swimming merit badge anyone can get- pretty much just by knowing you can float and not immediately drown.

He had to practice swimming distances for a week then it took close to an hour, I think, of continuous swimming, to swim a mile distance in one swim.

    :)
