This shot is obviously all about the phone. Right now, I'm all about the phone.

Right now, my phone is a BlackBerry Pearl. I got it, hmmm, maybe 3 months ago. Paid a lot of hard earned money for it too, since the Verizon "new every two" plan has become the "well, maybe if you're the primary account holder and you remember to ask" plan. It was kind of an impulse buy, to satisfy my iPhone hunger.
…And it's not really doing it's job.
At least, it's not satisfying the hunger. I would guess that it was probably about my senior year of high school (2000) that I started wishing for someone to combine a PDA, Phone, and iPod. At the time, I was just getting my first tech jobs; and I was carrying around my phone, a palm pilot, and one of a half dozen or so music players I tried over the years (eventually settling on the iPod). So I'm sure you can understand my rapture when the iPhone was announced; and I've documented here on several occasions just how saddening it is that they are exclusively with AT&T.
I am considering getting one. I know, I know. I just spent a bunch of money on the BlackBerry. (I can probably sell it for around 2/3 what I paid for it…) And in order to get the iPhone, I'll have to switch carriers. I'm not entirely convinced this is a bad thing. But the worst of it is that I may have to pay not only one, but two early termination fees (mine and Megans) to switch us to AT&T. That may almost double the cost of the move, right there.
For now, it's just an idea. One I'm seriously considering… but just an idea.
I got some money from selling my company a few months ago, and I am in the process of finishing up a freelance coding project worth a few hundred bucks, so it'll be a nice treat for myself for all of the hard work I've done over the last year or so. The only question now, is how long can I resist the impulse?
